Wexford, Pennsylvania (January 24, 2011) – Chief Oil & Gas has drilled its 100th natural gas well in the Marcellus Shale, the Lightner East Unit #1H in Blair County, Pennsylvania. The Lightner East #1H is one of five wells that Chief has drilled in Blair County.
"We are very pleased with production in the Marcellus Shale and are proud of our role in producing clean natural gas for the nation and contributing to the growth of Pennsylvania's economy," stated Kristi Gittins, Vice President of Public Affairs for Chief Oil & Gas.
Chief has operations in 11 counties in Pennsylvania, including Bedford, Blair, Bradford, Clearfield, Fayette, Greene, Lycoming, Somerset, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming. It also operates in Preston and Marshall Counties in West Virginia. In November, Chief announced that it had reached a daily production milestone of 100 MMcf per day.
