Pennsylvania Congressman Bill Shuster (PA-09) and his staff spent a day touring a Chief Oil & Gas natural gas rig site in the Henry Clay Township of Fayette County to see and experience first-hand how the natural gas development process works.

“Marcellus Shale development stands to dramatically position Pennsylvania for an economic breakthrough,” Shuster said. “It is critical that policy makers like me and my colleagues from the Pennsylvania delegation get the opportunity to tour the natural gas drilling rigs first hand and get an accurate picture of how the industry works. Meetings and briefings in Washington cannot compare to being in the field and seeing what the employees of Chief Oil and Gas do everyday.”

Chief is dedicated to open and honest communication and to educating the public about the impact and benefits of natural gas development for local communities. Chief has hosted more than 300 public tours of its drilling and completions development and pipeline operations, compressor stations, fresh water impoundments and water withdrawal sites.

“We were happy to have the opportunity to show Congressman Shuster and his staff how we operate,” said Kristi Gittins, Vice President of Public Affairs. “We always welcome the chance to educate the public about the steps Chief takes to protect the environment while developing this vital resource. It is important to help our elected officials understand how our operations play a role in providing a clean, cheap source of energy for our nation. ”
