Chief Oil & Gas supports the efforts of Governor Corbett and Acting DEP Secretary Mike Krancer to reduce Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and bromides in local waterways and has already changed its wastewater disposal practices.

As part of our Best Management Practices intiative, Chief has made many improvements to its operations over the last year including adopting a closed-loop drilling system, lining all operation sites with a plastic layer for additional protection, and most recently hiring environmental site managers to oversee all critical operations.

Making changes to how we dispose of wastewaster was another improvement to Chief's best practices. Chief no longer takes any water from its hydraulic fracturing operations to any grandfathered wastewater treatment facility in Pennsylvania. Chief has expanded its water recycling program and continues to make improvements on water use and reuse.

"While we recognize that the oil and gas industry is not the only industry that could contribute to TDS and bromide levels, we are committed to do our part to address all environmental issues and hope that all companies embrace this effort," said David Patterson, Vice President of Operations for Chief Oil & Gas.

Chief is committed to the responsible use of water to minimize pollution and waste, conserve natural resources and reduce the environmental impacts of its activities and operations.
